Victoria Kay "Vickie" McBain, 79, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Weatherford. Born on August 12, 1945, in Spencer, Iowa, to Cleo and Dorothy Hopkins, Vickie grew up in Terril, Iowa, attending the local Methodist Church.
Vickie pursued her education passionately, earning a Lab Technician certification from Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1964, and later a degree from the School of Occupational Therapy at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, in 1993. Her professional career was diverse, including roles as a Lab Technician, at General Electric Finance, and as an Activity Director for nursing homes.
In 1964, Vickie married Leroy McBain, and together they built a life filled with love and adventure, moving to various places including Story City, Iowa, Fostoria, Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas, Salina, Kansas, and finally settling in Dallas, Texas, in 1976. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her three sons.
Vickie's kind and adventurous spirit was evident in her many interests. She enjoyed backpacking, camping, water skiing, gardening, growing African violets, collecting butterflies, and country western dancing. Her energy and zest for life were infectious, and she inspired those around her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Dorothy Hopkins, Vickie is survived by her older brother, Gayle Hopkins, and her three sons, Scott McBain, Jim McBain, and Robert McBain. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will always cherish her memory.
