William Garland Collier was born on August 21, 1949, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Felix and Maizie Collier. He grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas and graduated from Northside High School in 1967.
He attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and sang in the Men's Chorus for three years while working on a Master's Degree in Music.
Garland served as Minister of Music for churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. He also served as a Youth Minister and Associate Pastor.
Garland married Susan on June 1, 2002. Soon afterward, they moved to the Big Island of Hawaii where he loved his job as a bus driver for Avis. They left Big Island when Garland was disabled in a serious car accident. After they returned to Texas, Garland loved selling golf clubs, singing in the choir at Glenview Church, and Dr. Pepper.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Collier, and his sister, Sharron Lennington, and their families, including many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
