William H. Gill Jr., known as "Sonny," passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, in Denton. Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Committal: 4 p.m. at Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Sonny was a master carpenter for over 40 years. He was a member of Normandale Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to help those that were less fortunate and used his many talents to do so. Mr. Gill was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Ruby Gill; sister, Billie Weir; brother, Carl Gill; and nephew, Steve Gill. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Monnell; children, Billie Rogers and husband, Jack, Carol Bird and husband, Kelly, and Don Gill; sister, Beverly Fogle; grandchildren, Melissa Rogers, Meredith Rogers, Mark Bird and wife, Katlyn, Michael Bird and wife, Elizabeth, Rachel Bird and fianc, Reece, Sarah Bird, John Bird and wife, Kailyn, and Philip Bird.
