William Edward Nobles of Lakeside, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 97 years of age. Ed was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather.

Born on May 8, 1926, in Kopperl, Texas, Ed lived a life marked by courage, honor, and unwavering love. He proudly served and retired from the US Army and was a veteran of WWII where he earned two Purple Hearts.

After serving his country, Ed began a second career with Southwestern Bell, embodying the same principles of duty, loyalty, and service. He was a man of integrity and compassion, who impacted the lives of those around him. Not only was he a devoted family man but also a respected figure within his community and church.

Ed's faith in God was a guiding force throughout his life. A trusting soul, he found solace in his spirituality, which provided comfort and strength in both times of joy and challenge.

Ed was an avid outdoorsman, who found comfort in the beauty of nature and enjoyed sharing it with others. Whether it was spending time fishing at his cabin on Possum Kingdom Lake, deer hunting in south Texas, or simply enjoying his coffee while watching his grandkids play, he found joy in the simplicity of nature and being around those he loved.

As a father and grandfather, Ed was a source of love and wisdom. He was known for his unconditional love and selflessness. He always looked out for others, offering a helping hand to friends and strangers alike.

He was a devoted husband to the late Ella Josephine Nobles for 63 years, a loving father to three sons, and proud grandfather to five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, William O'Dell Nobles and Thula Jane Nobles; brothers, Marvin Nobles, George Nobles, Walter Nobles, and Melvin Nobles; wife, Ella Josephine Nobles; and sons, William Charles Nobles and Melvin Edward Nobles.

Ed is survived by his son, Bob Nobles of Lakeside; his grandchildren, Monica Richey, Renae Thompson, Cody Burleson, Elijah Nobles, and Rachel Nobles; his great-grandchildren, Larissa Stanley, Anna Garrison, Kacie Thompson, Kristin Winters, Kaden Thompson, Caden Burleson, Bailey Burleson, Brylon Nobles, and Brady Nobles; as well as eight great-great-grandchildren.

As we bid farewell, we will forever treasure the memories and remember Ed with gratitude for his service, admiration for his character, and love for the enduring impact he leaves behind. May his legacy of compassion and kindness continue to inspire us all to live with the same faith, love, and generosity that defined his remarkable journey.
