Betty Sue (Wright) Tuley, 84, of Justin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Justin Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, August 25, 2017.

Betty Sue was born to Cora Smith Wright and Robert Roy Wright on February 12, 1933 in Denton County. She attended school in Argyle, Ponder, and Justin, where she played volleyball while working with her family to keep things running on the farm. She was raised with modest means, but it never stopped her enthusiasm for life as those were simpler times.

Betty Sue married Glen R. “Fats” Tuley on December 27, 1947, in Garland. They lived in Justin while starting their family. They had three children, Glenda Sue, Ruthie, and Regina along with three grandsons and six great- grandchildren that were the center of her life. She had such a deep love and devotion for her family and put them first above all else. She was their biggest cheerleader.

While living in Justin, Betty Sue was a member of Justin Church of Christ, bowled on a league in Denton, and played and pitched on the ladies softball team. She also worked full time outside the home for the Credit Bureau in Fort Worth, hauled hay on some weekends, and still found time to be active in Ruthie and Regina’s life. She cooked, cleaned, and sewed clothes for them and always made sure they knew they were loved and she would always be there for them.

“Mother was beautiful inside and out.” She was fun loving and could even be quite the prankster, especially around Halloween. She was very selfless and always taught by example with love, compassion, and prayer.

Betty, Glen, and Regina moved to Irving in 1969, as Ruthie was already married. During this time, she managed Banner Finance in Dallas. Betty and Glen divorced in 1979. In 1980, Betty met Floyd Godbey of Sherman and they eventually married on August 13, 1981 and started their new life adventure together. Betty and Floyd worked together at Banner Finance until she had a mild stroke and retired in 1989. They eventually moved to Saginaw and became very active at Trinity Baptist Temple for many years. They had many happy times during this season of life. They eventually moved back to Justin where they’ve resided for almost 20 years. They were very protective of each other during the latter years and to watch how they took care of each other was a blessing to see.

Betty’s husband, Floyd and Betty’s daughter, Ruthie were at Betty’s bedside when she went to be with the Lord on Friday morning at 3:48 a.m. Heaven gained a beautiful and loving lady and she will be missed. Although, we haven’t a doubt we will see her again one day. “We love you Mama with all that we have and we miss you already. You’re in our hearts forever.”

Betty is preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Sue Tuley; parents, Cora and Robert Roy Wright; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Mary Wright; and sister, Louise Wright Powers.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Godbey; daughter and son-in-law, Ruthie and Steve Cope; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and James Woody Godbey; grandsons, Jeff Cope and wife, Nicky, Thomas Cope and wife, Diana, Rodney Godbey and wife, Laine; six great-grandchildren; brother, Milton Wright and wife, Verda; and was blessed by her extended family, Wayne and Kim Godbey, Susan and David Burrus, Sandy McGhee, and several grandchildren and great- grandchildren
