Billy McKinley Kilgore, 86, a loving husband, father and grandfather, went to be with our heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012.

Billy was born Nov. 12, 1925, in China Grove and graduated from Brownwood High School in Brownwood. He married Billie Ruth Adams, Aug. 9, 1944. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. A career firefighter and paramedic, he retired at the rank of assistant fire chief over Emergency Medical Services in Odessa. He was instrumental in starting and implementing Emergency Medical Services in the Odessa Fire Department. Billy enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid golfer. Billy was known to many as “Dadoo,” his grandfather name given to him by his first grandson. Dadoo was a devoted family man and delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and never failed to keep his family and friends in stitches. He was the cornerstone of the family and will be deeply missed.

Billy was preceded in death by a son, Billy Kilgore Jr., and a sister, Beatrice Johnson.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Billie Kilgore of Fort Worth; daughters, Nancy Boyd and husband, Joe, of Granbury and Janie Romine and husband, Rick, of Saginaw. He had seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
