George was born December 7, 1948 in Montebello, California. At the age of 17, George joined the United States Marine Corp on March 28, 1966. He served in Vietnam as a Truck Mechanic for one year, progressing to a Tactical Weapons Air Controller, where he got his call sign “Tramp”. George was frequently requested by name by various units during their training for his expertise in early aircraft and bogey identification. Later, he served as a Tactical Weapons Air Controller Instructor in Twenty – Nine Palms, California.

George retired from the United States Marine Corp after serving 20 years, however, was later recalled for service during Operation Desert Storm where he was a Casualty Notification Officer for a unit in the state of Oklahoma. Following his service in Desert Storm, George returned to civilian status as a college student at Missouri Southern State University where he achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration. George worked at various long-term care facilities in Oklahoma and Texas. Once George retired as an administrator, he worked in medical supply delivery for Metroplex Medical. George retired early to become a caretaker for his father and mother-in-law.

George met the love of his life, Cynthia A. Smith in Hawaii, where they were both stationed. They later married on October 7, 1977 in Hawaii. He was a proud father of four beautiful daughters, Barbara, Debra, Angela and Tamara.

George spent much of his past-time building several RC airplanes, collecting trains, taking long road trips in his corvette while listening to his favorite song “Lyin’ Eyes” by the Eagles, and later in life, becoming an avid QVC shopper where his family would regularly receive random packages, where his motto became “one is good, five is better”.

Survivors: George is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cynthia Garlock; daughter, Barbara Butterfield and husband, Jon, of South Jordan, Utah; daughter, Debbie Lawrence and husband, John, of Carson City, Nevada; daughter, Angela Lowe and husband, Kevin, of Saginaw, and daughter, Tamara Alexander and husband, David, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Roberts, Alex and Natalie Butterfield, Brinley Butterfield, Cole Butterfield, Matthew Lawrence, Hailey Lowe, Kasey Lowe, Taylor Alexander, and Tyler Alexander; great-grandchildren, Sarin, Nora and Nixon Roberts.

He will not only be missed by his loving family, but also QVC.
