Glen was born in Maysville, Oklahoma to parents Lena “Mom” and Charlie “Pop” Bell. After high school he joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He often told his family that he served as a typing clerk in the war, and it wasn’t until late in life that he admitted his duties involved carrying top secret information to and from the front lines each day. When he returned from overseas he attended North Texas State University (UNT) where he met the love of his life, Dale E. Palmer at a Baptist Student Union bonfire. After a brief courtship, Dale and Glen were married on October 2, 1959 at Birdville Baptist Church.

Glen and Dale have three daughters, Karen, Sheri, and LeAnne. Karen married Jim McClanahan. They have two children, Clayton and Whitney and four grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, Ashlyn, and Tony. Sheri married Doug Willis. They have two children, Calie and Caleb, who is married to Molly. They have one grandchild, Charlie. LeAnne married Darrell Beason and they have one daughter, Meghan who is married to David Pellizzari. They have two grandchildren, Slaton and Sterling.

Glen was a Senior Real Estate Appraiser and owner of Saginaw Real Estate. He retired in 2016.

Glen possessed a beautiful bass/baritone voice and felt called to use his gift to glorify his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary during the 1970’s and was ordained into the ministry by First Baptist Church Saginaw. He served as “Interim” Music Director at numerous churches in the Greater Fort Worth Area including Eagle Mountain Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Saginaw, First Baptist Church Keller, and First Methodist Church Saginaw. In 1975 Glen joined the Singing Men of Texas. Dale and Glen participated in a variety of mission trips throughout the world including trips to New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Romania, China, Ukraine, Spain, and Washington D.C.

In his later life, Glen could be found baking sourdough bread, gardening, and spending time with his great-grandchildren. In July 2014, Glen became “Gammy” to a Cocker Spaniel rescue dog named Max. Glen and Max were inseparable.
