During her life, she received many awards and commendations as a Texas Peace Officer. She began her career in law enforcement after her children were in school. She worked as a Safety Crossing Guard for the elementary school, a position that was with the Lake Worth Police Department.

Ann Davis was committed to Law Enforcement. Starting in 1967 to 1975, she worked as Police/Fire Dispatch/Supervisor Matron and Sargent at Lake Worth Police Department. During this time, Ann Davis was the first female police officer in Lake Worth and Tarrant County to be awarded “Officer of the Year, 1973”. She was one of the first women certified as a Texas Peace Officer completing one of the first State Certification Classes held in Tarrant County. In 1976, she was sworn in as a Deputy for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and began working in Jail Operations.

She earned promotions, commendations, and rose in rank to Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff. She retired from T.C.S.O. in 1993 after serving with Sheriff Lon Evans, Sheriff Don Carpenter, and Sheriff David Williams. Lt. Davis received her Associates Degree in Applied Science Law Enforcement in 1977, and Masters Degree in 1989 at University of Texas in Arlington. She believed quietly and powerfully that she could do anything, and she achieved it. Her first career, her children, her second, a Texas Peace Officer; her last was grandchildren and time with God.

Guiding her through the gates of heaven were her husband, Guy; children, Larry, Sammy, James “Kink”, John, Martha, Margaret Kathryn “Kathy”; and three grandchildren.

Survivors to remember her life are her husband, Salvatore Holcomb; son, Bobby Davis and wife Rosalinda; daughter, Linda Stanley and husband, Tracy; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her only sister-in-law, Patricia Mann; her lifetime friends, Violet Ingersoll and Shirley Hayes.
